Schott and Berger receive All-Region honors
St. Louis- Fontbonne University baseball freshman Jesse Schott (Cape Girardeau, MO/Notre Dame) and junior Rob Berger (Shiloh, IL/O'Fallon) were recently named to the 2013 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings Central Region team.
Third baseman Schott was given second team honors. Schott completed his first collegiate season with 25 runs, 44 hits, 12 doubles, 7 home runs, 29 RBI's and a .355 batting average. Defensively Schott contributed with 48 assists in his rookie season.
Shortstop Berger was named to the Central Region third team. Berger was the defensive backbone for the Griffins turning 24 double plays, 62 put outs and 115 assists. Berger crossed the plate 35 times, connected on 56 hits including 10 doubles, one triple and one home run. Berger ended his junior season with 24 RBI's and a .350 batting average.
The Griffins finished fourth in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with a 14-10 record and completed their season with an overall 18-24 record.
